Lovely resort - apartments good size, great views and very clean. Pool area is large, enough sun beds for relaxing after a full day wine tasting and again well maintained. Restaurant evening meal delicious and breakfast good (although while we were there it was under COVID restrictions) Staff extremely helpful and friendly Negative note - no access to main building from upstairs apartments without having to go down and then back up 2 flights of stairs - but hey keeps you fit! (note there is a lift in main building, none in apartment blocks - or that I saw) Highly recommend staying here
Great location. Great rooms.
Stayed here with friends whilst visiting the Barossa. Conveniently located near all the good wineries (St Hugo, Grant Burge, Jacobs Creek). View from the room is beautiful. Great bar and restaurant overlooking the valley.
Didn't stay but hubby had some business here so I made myself comfortable on the restaurant balcony - what a view, with a drink and some food. The service here was the best, I can honestly not fault it. Samuel was my go to guy and made sure I had everything I needed while waiting. I was also lucky enough to be looked after by Belinda, what beautiful staff. I actually felt bad for not staying but we will definitely return just for the service. By the way food was fresh and tasty, drinks super cold and prices very reasonable. Thanks for having us, even if it wasn't for long.
Nice outlook form a newly renovated room
We enjoyed a 2 night stay here. Our room had been recently renovated so was very modern and clean. Also had an outside balcony with views of the surrounding vines and the grounds of the Hotel Complex. We used the restaurant both nights for Dinner and Breakfast and were satisfactory in terms of service and quality. Menu on the first night was a little limited however but was expanded on the 2nd night. Located in close proximity to the Barossa wine region but own transport is required to visit most of them along with the local town.
Room Names Were Misleading, Spa/Shower Dangerous - Nice Views Though
We booked the Spa Suite for a long weekend. Previously when we have booked suites we have received spacious rooms with separate living areas and more amenities than other rooms in the hotel. I expected the same at this resort. Unfortunately what I received was what appears to be a room of the same size as the standard rooms but with a small, sadly dingy spa/shower combination that was not pleasant for either showering or relaxing in. Not only that the spa/shower was frankly dangerous. In order to clambour in and out safely you need to be quite tall and steady on your feet. While young, I am not tall. Unfortunately I slipped getting out and slammed my thigh into the tub. I sported a significant bruise for several days afterwards. You must AVOID this room if you are elderly or have an injury that makes you less steady on your feet, I would be surprised if there have not been more serious injuries. I was really disappointed to find there was no waiter's mate/wine opener in the room. In a 'suite' in a wine region. It was ridiculous. Sound proofing also left much to be desired. We could hear customers speaking on their balcony when our door was closed. They were speaking at a low volume so I would expect not to hear that. Finally the room is in need of maintenance, the fly screen was off of the rail so we could not open up the room, at least one of the bedside lamps was not working. The balcony did not possess comfortable chairs so we could not relax and enjoy the lovely views. Again, for the price we paid I would expect reasonable seating both indoors and outdoors. The restaurant was running two sittings for dinner and unfortunately this meant everyone arrived at once making both social distancing and efficient service impossible. It took far too long for orders to be taken and received. I query the sense behind two sittings. I suggest people be allowed to stagger their arrivals as the risk of COVID is low in SA and the staff clearly could not cope with the influx. The pool was closed in September. This was not an issue as we had no intention of using it, but the hotel at no time communicated to us the pool was closed. There is a small walking track on the property which was nice for a short walk on a couple of occasions. I would love to see the track extended as the hotel is in a lovely area. Overall value for money this was incredibly lacking. We paid over $300 per night for the 'suite'. I was beyond disappointed and while I have often been impressed by Novotels internationally, cannot recommend this property. Had I purchased a standard room for a lesser price I may have been less disappointed. I feel extremely ripped off for the 'suite'.
