Perfect spot in the heart of Adelaide
MRGH is in a great spot if you're visiting Adelaide. About a five minute walk to Rundle Mall and maybe 10 minutes to the Botanic gardens. We arrived at 10.30am with the thought we would just leave our bags and wander around until check in at 2pm. However, the wonderful Karyn on reception took her time to move a couple of things around so we could have access to a room straight away. This was definately appreciated. I found all the staff from reception to housekeeping friendly and happy. Five star staff for sure. We stayed on two seperate nights in rooms 506 and 606. 506 was a great size with plenty of room and an amazing king side bed. Room 606 is slightly smaller due to the configuration of the building. The bathroom was lovely and clean with a very big shower. My only complaint would be that the air conditioner is quite noisy until the room reaches the set temperature. As for the location. If you head east on Rundle Street there is a great area with bars and cafes which were open on the Saturday night, but not on the Wednesday when we were there. Right next door is a really nice Italian restaurant. Across the road and around the corner are a couple of hamburger places. If you're hiring a car from Budget it's about a 2 minute walk. I would have no hesitation at staying here again. Thanks to all the staff for making our stays so good.
I stayed at this hotel on three different occasions, twice when there was an early morning start. Breakfast is served very promptly, even when there are large groups. The rooms at the back of the hotel are quiet, but I had one facing Frome Street and that was affected by traffic noise. Nice big room and a generous bathroom in the Superior rooms I stayed in, with unlimited free wifi.
Fan or machinery noise stops you sleeping
The specification states that the rooms are soundproof well apart from the constant hum of some fan or machinery. If you want a good night’s sleep it’s not a great place to stop. Only noticed this of course when I was trying to sleep when it is way too late to move room. I will never stop here again.
I booked this hotel for a weekend treat for myself for the bath and location. Upon arrival reception was cool but efficient. Room large tiny window no view in my Classic Deluxe. I would have thought a full size window for this price level. Pleasant Homey decor although a little tired Huge bath and bathroom also large. Lots of cupboard space with safe iron and ironing board. Television 55" also connects to Netflix. Free wifi. Room In fridge for additional products. Mini bar selection excellent. No free water which is essential in SA. Location is excellent close to Mall and Tram Botanic Gardens. Roof top Garden has no bar which is disappointing as it is quite well supplied with seating options. Would have been nice to have a cocktail or two. The main issue is the noise from the vent which increases with the elevators being used ALL NIGHT! You will need earplugs for a good night's sleep. Overall the stay was pleasant but with the competition from newer venues in the area at this price point the hotel may need to lift its game.
Great location, restaurant meal delicious
We stayed here for a few nights with the location a quick walk to Rundle Mall as well as Sym Choon Laneway which has a German pub/restaurant as well as French, Other options, a great place to have a drink and a meal. Plus a bottle shop East End Cellars which has a huge variety of wines. Highly recommend checking one of the restaurants out. We ate at the hotel for dinner one night and the food was delicious and the staff were super friendly. The hotel also has a rooftop though they do not offer bar service so you will need to BYO but would be nice on a summers night. For price and location would stay here again.
