Coud be more welcoming :)
Room was lovely and clean as we expected. However, a little disappointed with the breakfast staff on arrival to breakfast. When we enquired if there was a table free for breakfast, the lady at the breakfast desk ushered us onto a table, wasn't later, as we were literally sitting down, asked if we wanted coffee, we said please give us a minute as we sat down. Then another lady plonked down our food on this tea tray, which looked lovely. When lady came back to ask about coffee, I asked what options were there, she said "coffee", I said what types do you have? I normally drink latte and not all hotels have this, hence my reason for asking. Then she said "what type do you want", it was the way she said it, she was quite abrupt with her answer, her English wasn't the best so perhaps I didn't quiet understand her, however, I found her to be a little aggressive with her presence and attitude. This was our 25 wedding anniversary breakfast, so we left feeling a little disappointed. We had waited 25 years to come to this hotel, one of the last on our list to stay at. I think we would have got better service at a local cafe.
Very attentive staff
Stayed here for one night. Found the service and staff to be excellent. Our room was clean but probably looking for a coat of paint soon and the curtains were not the best. Otherwise a very pleasant hotel.
Check in quick and easy. No mention of special Ambassador status and no refreshments in the room Hotel does not take any cash, even it is a legal tender. Rooms a little outdated. Carpet was not clean had dirt marks. Swimming pool, is small. Restaurants closed. Eating near the bar area, possible. Table with tablecloth were only for special guests.
Great Hotel, Great Service, Ageing Rooms
We stayed as part of the SA Tourism Voucher initiative and felt like a rock star arriving at such a nice hotel AND being well greeted outside and inside the hotel. Our room, on the 13th floor, was great for an overnighter. The bathroom size was at least a third of the overall floor space. The room and amenities however were aging and could do with an update. There was no welcome pack or guide to the hotel and its facilities. Room Service menu was pricey and quite limited. The food menu at all establishments inside the hotel was limited to those with $$ to spend and 5 star tastes, for us 'middle class?' night without the kids types, it was a bit much. Breakfast was good, very busy and our order was forgotten but they soon got on it. Service was exemplary. I would recommend to others, but would i pay full price? Probably not.
A quality stay with service that excels
This amazing hotel with its beautiful rooms and quality fixtures and facilities has beautiful views of the river and is central to all the sights. A quick free tram ride was available to the places we were visiting and the staff were very helpful in supporting our queries. The food was absolutely unbeatable with a delicious breakfast and Shiki lived up to its amazing reputation. Also we never lacked attention by the wait staff for anything we wanted. Had the best night, thank you to everyone at Intercontinental Adelaide.
