I had to wait a little while before I wrote this review. First I want to say that we had a wonderful stay. The food is excellent. There is limited choices for dinner, but on the one occassion it was an issue for my husband they were accomodating. We consider ourselves foodies and it was very good quality and the portion sizes were plenty good. We have healthy appetites and never felt like we needed to order an extra entre. Snacks are limited but available. The staff was polite and very helpful. I could nit pick some issues in the rooms but none were so bad that they were worth mentioning. Overall, I felt like our room was clean and well maintained. I brought bug spray because so many people mentioned a bug problem but I didnt use it once. The evening entertainment was very nice but it would be good to have it more often. This resort is for relaxation. If you want loud music and dance parties, this is not for you. The beach is just beautiful. We ranked this place our #1 beach destination so far. I would have given this place a 5 star review all the up to when we went to the airport. We went to pay the luggage fees and his debit card didn't work. Didnt think too much about it because we were overseas but we tried the card again when we came back and it was declined again. Contacted the bank and apparently someone did a bank transfer from his account and stole $2k. We got the money back but had to deal with the aggrivation of new account numbers and cards. The rooms have a safe and it was our fault because we were rushing trying to catch a bus and accidently left the phone on the bedside stand one day. The only way this transfer could have happen is by accessing his account which could have been done on the phone and it happened on the very day we left the phone. I feel like we are kind travelers and we make a concerted effort to treat the hotel staff politely and tip often because they do work hard to make your stay a nice one. I know that management cannot control the actions of their employees every minute of the day. Just be aware that if given the opportunity, they will steal from you!
What a chill!!!
We stayed at the Keyonna during the first week of November 2019, what a wonderful week!! The location is wonderful, the staff are brilliant (they cannot do enough for you), the food is great and so is the selection of wines!! My wife and I were looking for a place to chill and decompress and Keyonna did not disappoint. We would like to thank everyone for a most excellent week. Keyonna is based on Turners Beach with yellow soft sand, walks along the beach are worthwhile, especially when the pelicans are flying low. Thanks to Kuoni for helping us chose Keyonna, Thanks to Clinton and all his staff. Thanks to Jason from St James Travel and to Eustace/Denzil/Aaron for the sailing experience.
Relaxing resort, just needs a few tweaks to be excellent
We went for a week in early Nov. There are only 29 rooms and it was nearly full all the time we were there. We had a beach view room, which are soacious and well equipped, including a kettle and mini bar. When we arrived they asked what we wanted in our mini-bar, but it took 3 days before everything arrived. An umbrella in the room would be helpful as there were a number of typical Carribean showers during opur stay. The rooms are provide with insect spray and nets over the bed, which you should use as there are plenty of biting insects around. The meals are all waitress service, and this was varied, with breakfast and lunch generally running smoothly, well done Odeal, but dinner was much more variable, one night taking over 2 hours. there appeared to be a lack of leadership in the restaurant in the evenings and the chef at times couldn't cope with the volume (which was acknowledged by some of the waiting staff). Also more staff on bar / wine duties would have helped in the evening. There was an excellent bar service on the beach and there is a long beach, but I would recommend bringing beach shoes, as it is stony if you get in by the hotel. There are plenty of sun cabannas, but these have limited effect as they do not provide protection from the south, so often only half the bed was in shade. There are no watersports and there was only limited enterainment on 3 nights. The gusets are mainy a mix of UK / US with all ages, including honeymooners and retired people, although there appeared to be very few returning guests. On our final day we were not leaving the hotel until 7pm and we were provided with a room to move into, right up to 7pm,which was much appreciated) We compared this resort is compared to East Winds in St Lucia which we hade visited for the last 2 years, and in our opinion Keyonna Beach is not up to their standards, particularly in the quality of staff service and wine choice, but it was cheaper and less formal (no need for long trousers in evening) and this may attract younger people. Overall a very relaxing resort, but with a few tweaks could be excellent. Perhaps let some of the senior staff see how East Winds do it.
If you are look for a loud party place, this is not for you. If you are looking to disconnect and have lots of quiet tome, definitely visit this resort. This resort is quiet, which we loved. There is little to no mingling among the guests which takes a while to get used to. It would be nice if there could be some activities to get the guests to mingle a bit, like a managers cocktail party, more games like Jenga, or even bar stools at the bar. Everything at the resort is set up for two. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails. The resort will adjust the table for more people if needed. We only so two couples traveling together and eating together while we were there. My husband and I stayed in the beachfront pool cottage. The location was excellent. We loved our private pool and deck. We were just steps away from the waterfront, which was fabulous. If you want privacy and the best room locations at this resort, these are the rooms to stay in. The room was rustic, spacious, and extremely clean. I even enjoyed the outdoor showers. The beach was spectacular. Very private and quiet. We enjoyed walks on the beach every day. Often we would be the only ones on it. Food was good, much better than we expected. The portions were the perfect size. A very nice touch was that you could order a snack at any time of the day. Service for breakfast and dinner was great. Day service on the beach was spotty. It was either great or non-existent. I would recommend the hotel work to have a more consistent service during the day. Housekeeping was good. They did a great job cleaning our rooms but sometimes they forgot to replace all the towels and glasses in the room. A special call out to Jameel- he was excellent. Always consistent and greated us with a smile.
Rustic elegance and lovely sandy beach for walking
My husband and I spent 3 nights at this hotel and enjoyed our short visit. Pros The beach is right outside your bungalow room which gives a barefoot, relaxing vibe as opposed to all the sterile larger hotels We loved the sitting area around the bar and dining room, stark white cushioned sofas against the turquoise sea just feet away . We got a free taxi to the sister resort and rented kayaks which was fun exercise. We thought the food was very good, the ambiance romantic especially in the evenings with the mood lighting . Dinner was always accompanied by wonderful wines. We usually shy away from all inclusive resorts but loved this one. Everyone was kind and friendly. We felt a genuine warmth from the staff as well as a high level of professionalism. We had a bungalow (26) without a pool and felt it was enough. The bed was comfortable and the outdoor shower was really fun to use. We highly recommend this smaller boutique hotel for a beachy, “feet in the sand” relaxing holiday. The canopy beds set around the beachfront area were amazing to laze around in and take a nap to the sound of the surf at your feet. We were celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary and were pleasantly surprised to find complimentary champagne chilling in our room during our stay.
