This hotel is Ajman’s original luxury beach retreat. The private beach is lapped by clear waters of the Arabian Gulf and is the largest of the area’s beachfront hotels; you won’t have to worry about getting a sun lounger here. There’s a shuttle bus three times a day that takes you to the most popular shopping centres in the area including Sharjah Blue Souk, Mall of Emirates and Dubai Mall – so you can be wandering around the world’s largest mall and viewing the Burj Khalifa in around 30 minutes (dependent on Dubai traffic), before returning back to the relaxed surrounds of your resort. The hotel remains true to its location’s heritage – expect Arabian arches and pillared rooms. Dining covers a variety of cuisine, and there’s a good choice of facilities to keep you entertained if your holiday style is getting comfortable in-resort. Order seafood fresh off the grill at the beachfront Zanzi Bar, try the signature tandoori lobster at the Indian restaurant, Bukhara, or have wood-fired pizza from the Italian restaurant, Sabella’s. At The Spa, you can choose from a menu of treatments including Balinese massages at an outdoor sala, and keen golfers can take advantage of special guest rates at the 18-hole Al Zorah Golf Club. As well as a kids’ club and dedicated children’s pool, families can have an evening ‘out’ at the cosmic-themed bowling alley. Most rooms have full or partial sea views and a private balcony, with the exception of Laguna Poolside Rooms which are in a separate building and are great for easy access to the pool. Superior Rooms on the first four floors have partial sea views, while the similarly-sized Superior, Deluxe and Signature Deluxe Rooms have fuller views. The larger Junior Suites have a separate sitting area while one of the hotel’s most luxurious options is the Deluxe Suite, which comes with a separate entrance area, living space and spacious balconies.
Tucked away on a soft white sand beach studded with seashells, this ultra-modern resort is a destination in itself. It’s a newer addition to Ajman’s collection of hotels, and the clear choice for international high-spec design and sublime Oberoi levels of service. Each room and villa comes with 24-hour butler service and complimentary activities to enhance your beach escape. Begin your day with a yoga session on the pavilion, in keeping with the zen vibes that radiate from the clean lines and water features around the resort. Dining is healthy and delicious; choose from an à la carte menu for made-to-order breakfast dishes at Vinesse Restaurant. There’s also a chef’s table option for an intimate dining experience accompanied by the resident Oberoi masterchef. For lighter bites during the day, the Poolside Lounge by the 85-metre focal infinity pool is your go-to for healthy small plates. Facilities include the outstanding Oberoi Spa, where you can relax in one of the traditional Arabic hammams or have a few laps on the jogging track. Best of all, its location within 247 acres of protected grounds means you can explore Ajman’s surprisingly vast mangrove territory on a cruise or kayaking tour. True to form for an Oberoi property, the rooms and villas here easily rival ones you find at well-established beach resorts around the world. Each room has 24-hour butler service and floor-to-ceiling doors and windows, so you’ll get beautiful views from inside as well as from the spacious private terrace or balcony. Premier Rooms with Private Terrace are generously sized with a large terrace. Deluxe Suites with Private Terrace have views of the mangroves, golf course and the sea. Premier Suites with Private Terrace have a separate living area and stunning en suite with a skylight. The most opulent is the Kohinoor Suite with Private Terrace, which has two bedrooms and uninterrupted sea views. There are one- to three-bedroom Premium Villas with Private Pool that are great for entertaining and have direct beach access.
