Can’t say enough about our visit to The Hide. We travelled from the US, four of us. The accommodations were over the top. Certainly didn’t rough it! Our rooms had a view of the pan, watched elephants and baboons and wildebeest and so much more….oh my! There was a place to watch the elephants drink from the trough from eye level perspective! Incredible. The rooms were very comfortable, great beds and a full tub and separate rain shower plus a private outdoor shower….which we used daily. The food was great, David treated us well. And the bar was open! Kate, the manager, was very involved daily in our comfort and experience. Our guide was so knowledgeable! His expertise in finding the mammals and exotic birds was exceptional. Sean has the eye of a photographer, knowing the importance of lighting and how to optimize it for the best photo (2 in our group were very interested in photography). We are a group who have known each other a long time and like to have fun. Sean caught on and quickly was part of our group. We would love to go back to The Hide and certainly will ask for Sean again. And, we travelled during Covid. We felt very comfortable with all precautions that were taken. Go.
Hard to put into words our amazing experience at the hide. Kate and her awesome team, gave us 3 days we will never forget. From arrival to departure the staff went above and beyond what we expected. Our guide Liam, an extremely knowledgeable young guy puts his heart and soul into showing guests why Hwange and The Hide are such special places. The tents are very clean and extremely comfortable, the meals are very fresh and well balanced and atmosphere of the camp is very relaxing and special. I hope to be back next year, and without a doubt, I will be booking a tent at The Hide.
The Hide never fails to deliver
This was our second trip to The Hide. Our first was in 2018. What a wonderful time we had once again.. - Amazing animal sightings. - Excellent food, beverage and service. - Super lodgings and - a great guide. WE also appreciated the fact that the took Covid seriously. If you are looking for a Safari as it should be done, look no further than The Hide. WE already know we will be coming back for another visit in the future.
Perfect Safari Holiday
Returned after nine years and were not disappointed. Accommodation still airy and spacious and staff extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. Had some wonderful and memorable wild life sightings, including having to drive slowly behind a male lion, a giraffe who made us wait for permission to continue our journey and a beautiful sable antelope who escorted us down the road. Our guide, Nkosi, was full of a wide range of interesting facts about both the flora and fauna. Our trip was wonderful and we hope to be able to return some day
Fantastic 70th birthday stay
We spent my wife’s 70th birthday night in a three-story tree house, the Dove’s Nest. It is separated about a quarter of a mile from the main camp and has breathtaking views of the African sunset over the grasslands. The Hide team arranged a private dinner for us on the second level of the tree house, looking out at the sunset, complete with a bottle of bubbly. Then we slept in the upstairs bedroom and listened to hyenas, jackals and various birds through a blissful evening. In the morning we were shown paw prints where a mother lion and her cubs had passed through during the night. Our stay at The Hide was a delight from start to finish. The staff was terrific, the food was exceptional, the game rides were full of surprises, and our walking safaris with Theo gave us a totally different vantage point for seeing zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, and springbok. Because of the lull in visitors due to COVID-19, Liam, our guide, had the time to cater to our whims. We were able to spend luxurious amounts of time watching the intimate behavior of elephants, studying herds of cape buffalo, and discovering species of antelope including the roan, eland, oryx and sable. We got the time to watch four lilac-breasted rollers challenge one another and display the side-to-side rolling that gives them their name. We were able to watch two baby hyenas who were waiting for the return of their mother.
