Waking up early (very early) to the sounds of Africa, looking out from the sheer luxury of your four poster bed, watching the dawn appear as the sounds and smells build the excitement for your early morning safari. Getting ready for the day, an enormous standalone bath tub, soap that smells so exotic, then pulling on your camouflage attire (khaki trousers, brown boots, white shirt and safari hat – what else!) Ready for that intrepid trip on your private jeep into Kruger reserve – silence, watching, waiting, just the tracker and the driver for company – Until your first sighting of an elephant and her baby emerging from the trees. Back for lunch, still buzzing from your early morning sightings, you relax on your balcony, overlooking the river where hippos are slowing wandering down to plunge into the water as if to entertain you whilst you eat an exquisite lunch of local cuisine, still surrounded by bird song, distant calls of unknown animals and the growing feeling of anticipation for the next Safari that evening! In the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, bordering the Sabie river, 20 minutes from Skukuza airstrip or one and a half hours from Kruger Mpumalanga airport.

Choose from three superb lodges, each with its own distinct character. The River Lodge has two pools, lounge/bar, dining deck, a peaceful riverside deck and bar, health spa, gym and open-air Boma. Ivory Lodge, just upstream, is sophisticated and exclusive, with a stunning river frontage, lounge, wine cellar and use of River Lodge facilities. All Inclusive is available at both River Lodge and Ivory Lodge. There is also the Chalkley Treehouse, a lavish room set within the branches of an ancient tree overlooking the plains. Here you can enjoy a romantic meal before bedding down for the night in your four-poster bed beneath a blanket of stars. On request for private use, Lion Sands 1933 has four en suite bedrooms with kids' room for up to eight children, lounge, pool and dedicated ranger, safari vehicle and private chef.

Ivory Lodge 4.5* ALL INCLUSIVE
Ivory Lodge, just upstream of River Lodge, is sophisticated and exclusive, with a stunning river frontage, lounge, wine cellar and use of River Lodge facilities.
Six suites are simply stunning featuring lounge with fireplace and bar, courtyard, private plunge pool with viewing deck, large air-conditioned bedroom, kingsize bed, open plan bathroom with freestanding bath and indoor and outdoor showers.

1933 Lodge
On request for private use, 1933 Lodge has four en-suite bedrooms with kids' room for up to eight children, an au pair room, lounge, pool and dedicated ranger, safari vehicle and private chef.
