Ski and snowboard schools
For skiers and snowboarders of all ages, levels and ability we recommend lessons or a specialist clinic with one of our carefully chosen ski schools who ensure that the group sizes are controlled and English is often the first language of the instructor, to help you really make the most of your winter activity holiday. We strongly suggest that you prebook your lessons before you travel for convenience and to ensure that your place is secured, as lessons can get booked up very quickly.
Essential for beginners, lessons will take place in a safe and controlled environment on the nursery slopes where you can learn at your own pace, so by the end of your stay you will feel comfortable enough on your skis or board to complete the easy runs on your own.
Intermediates should take the opportunity to improve your technique and become more competent on the slopes with ski or board lessons, so that you can start to enjoy a variety of runs, more challenging terrain and cope with different snow conditions. Improving your technique will also enable you to explore more of the area. You can even start to try out the powder - which is something most of us dream of and having a solid technique will undoubtedly enhance your entire skiing or boarding experience. Private lessons are also a good option if you just want to brush up on your skills.
As an advanced skier or boarder, you may find yourself coasting along in your comfort zone and need some inspiration from specialist clinics to help push you on to the next level. Advanced clinics can include anything from freeriding and freestyle with the experts so you can enjoy the powder or check out the board park, to learning to smoothly ski the bumps or moguls as well as specialist off-piste courses.
Timings and durations of lessons will differ in each resort so you can pick and choose what best suits your holiday plans, whether it's a full day of lessons or maybe a one-off private lesson. There will be different types of lessons available which will vary according to resort but essentially provide the same learning.
Group lessons
Group lessons are perfect for beginners to intermediates who will benefit from skiing or boarding with people of the same ability and are especially useful if you want to attend ski school every day. Group lessons usually run for approximately two to three hours per day over five or six days per week.
Technical Clinics are ideal for intermediates and beyond that don't want to be in lessons all week as they usually run for only a few hours on a few days of the week with small group sizes.
Private lessons
Private lessons are perfect for skiers or boarders seeking individual instruction and attention on a more intensive level. Private lessons can be taken by any level skier or snowboarder and you can take a friend or two if you are in a small group to help share the cost.
Children's lessons
If you are travelling with your family and have children it is always best to put the children in ski school even if it's only for part of your holiday. Children learn differently to adults and in specially structured children's lesson, they are more likely to progress quickly and more often than not have more fun with children of their own age. Most ski schools in Europe offer ski kindergarten classes for children under 6 which usually include ski lessons and an element of child care, especially for the youngest children, so that they don't get too tired or cold.
