Itinerary
- Nairobi: 1 night
- Mount Kenya: 1 night
- Ol Pejeta: 2 nights
- Masai Mara: 3 nights
Day 1 London/Nairobi
Depart London Heathrow flying overnight with Kenya Airways to Nairobi. On arrival transfer to the Serena Hotel. Centrally located from here you may enjoy some of the attractions of Nairobi, or start your holiday with a visit of the wonderful Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage
Day 3 Nairobi/Mount Kenya
This morning depart by road for the foothills of Mount Kenya, offering cool mountain air and stunning scenery. Heading north from Nairobi, through a hilly and rich mosaic of coffee plantations and farms, you will reach Serena Mountain Lodge a ‘tree hotel’ set high in a forest reserve overlooking a waterhole that regularly attracts numerous elephants, buffalos and plains game. Explore one of the walking trails or simply sip a cool drink on the viewing balcony before dinner and overnight.
Day 4 Mount Kenya/Ol Pejeta
Today you travel to the equator itself and Sweetwaters Tented Camp, a peaceful oasis set around a waterhole in its own reserve within the Ol Pejeta conservancy. Boasting the highest of game to geographical area ratio of all of Kenya’s parks, it is home to the ‘Big 5’ and as a private reserve offers the opportunity to enjoy game walks, horseriding and night game drives – a particularly effective way of seeing the elusive leopard. Your home in this haven of 24,000 acres, straddling the equator offers high standards of service and comfort amidst an ambience of safari adventure, with thirty tents nestling under individual thatch roofs near to the floodlit watering hole, regularly frequented by elephant, zebra, giraffe and impala. Enjoy two nights here with daily game activities and perhaps a visit to the nearby chimpanzee sanctuary.
Day 6 Ol Pejeta/Masai Mara
Today fly by Air Kenya light aircraft from Nanyuki to the peerless Masai Mara. Kenya’s most famous reserve is an image of gently rolling hills, yellow and green grassy plains, acacia clusters and of course an abundance of wildlife from the big cats, elephant and wallowing hippos, to thousands of zebra and wildebeest, which migrate in a cycle between the Serengeti in Tanzania and the Mara. Your home for three nights is Mara Serena Safari Lodge, centrally located deep within the reserve and set high on a hill offering spectacular views of the plains and rivers below. The sparkling swimming pool is a popular afternoon spot for sun worshippers. Each of the 73 rooms features magnificent vistas from their own balcony, and comes with spacious en suite bathroom.
Day 9 Masai Mara/Nairobi/London
Enjoy an early morning game drive and after lunch fly by Air Kenya to Nairobi before taking your evening Kenya Airways flight to Heathrow. Alternatively extend to the Kenya Coast or Zanzibar, which we highly recommend.
