Itinerary
- Nairobi: 1 night
- Samburu: 2 nights
- Masai Mara: 2 nights
- Beach: optional
Day 1 Sat London/Nairobi
Kenya Airways overnight flight from Heathrow to Nairobi.
Day 2 Sun Nairobi
On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Holiday Inn Nairobi for one night in a Family Room. These rooms have two queen beds and can accommodate two adults and two children up to 12 years. Here you can take advantage of the 20% discount available to guests in the hotel’s Oasis restaurant for dinner.
Day 3 Mon to Day 4 Tue Nairobi/Samburu
After breakfast you will be transferred to Wilson airport for a short light aircraft flight (Safari Link or similar) to Samburu National Reserve for two nights in one of the new Family tents at Samburu Intrepids Camp. These are perfect for a family of four with two separate bedrooms for the adults and children (up to 12 years) connected by a central lounge/living area. The camp is set in shady woodland on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River where elephants and zebra among others come daily to drink. Camp facilities include thatched dining areas, lounge and bar with nightly talks and slide shows, swimming pool, and all the tents are of a high standard and with en suite bathroom and wooden verandahs. Game drives in four-wheel drive vehicles are sure to spot plenty of the resident big game, and to keep the kids entertained the acclaimed ‘Adventurers Club’ involves child friendly activities such as catching and studying butterflies, taking casts of big cat tracks, building mini Masai homesteads and bush treasure hunts. Day 5 Wed to Day 6 Thu Samburu/Masai Mara
Today take a light aircraft (Safarilink or similar) flight for approx. one hour to the Masai Mara, passing over an endless horizon of savannahs as you travel. On arrival you will be met by a vehicle from the Mara Intrepids Camp and taken there for two further nights in a Family Tent (tent configuration as per Samburu). Adventurers Club activities for the children are as per Samburu. The greater scale of the Mara compared to Samburu provides an interesting contrast and makes for wonderful photographic opportunities. Mara Intrepids sits in a superb position by the Talek river in the centre of the reserve and features a large dining terrace by the swimming pool, elevated game viewing platform, and recently upgraded en suite tents finished to a high standard.
