Two River Safari
Experience Africa’s untamed wilderness.
Our opinion
The Lower Zambezi National Park is one of our favourite safari locations for its sheer beauty and rewarding game viewing. Combine with South Luangwa National Park and the result is an unequalled off the beaten track journey.
Itinerary
- South Luangwe: 4 nights
- Lower Zambezi: 3 nights
Day 1 London/Lusaka/South Luangwa
Fly British Airways overnight flight to Lusaka. On arrival transfer by Zambian Airways to the South Luangwa National Park for four nights at Nsefu Camp or Tena Tena. Sharing similar locations and just eight miles apart the camps offer extremely high standards of accommodation and service. Tena Tena is a remote and small camp that lies within the National Park, enjoying a stunning location on a sweeping bend of the Luangwa River. A grove of mahogany trees shade the large custom made tents. From the dining room and bar, guests can watch the elephants, hippo and antelope on the riverbank. Nsefu Camp boasts sweeping vistas over the river and includes a terraced area where game grazes during the day. The bar is tucked in beside a huge extinct termite mound and overlooks a waterhole. The rondavel style rooms feature a spacious bathroom, a clear view of the river through large windows and from a wooden terrace. Game viewing at both camps is on foot on escorted walking safaris, and on day and night open four wheel drive game drives.
Day 6 South Luangwa/Lower Zambezi
Fly by Proflight light aircraft to the Lower Zambezi National Park, transferring through the bush to the stunning Chongwe River Camp. The camp itself looks onto the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi rivers and the mountains of the escarpment to the north. Well appointed tents are set under thatch, with an open air bathroom en suite. The game viewing is exceptional, and few other places can give you the choice of game drives in open safari vehicles, guided walking, canoeing or motor boating. Fishing is also a popular option.
