Our opinion
This safari offers a unique amalgam of exclusivity, earthy luxury and nature. A select blend of the coffee plantations in Arusha, the elephant capital of Tarangire, the underground tribes of Lake Eyasi, wonders of the Ngorongoro crater and the migration point of the Serengeti. Day 1 Mon London/Nairobi

Day 2 Tue Nairobi/Arusha
Arrive Nairobi, connect with onward flight to Kilimanjaro and transfer to Arusha Coffee Lodge. The beautiful and elegant plantation house is located amidst the famous coffee region of Tanzania. A haze of berry-laden coffee bushes on the working plantation is the backdrop to your home for this evening. During your overnight stay here you will have the opportunity to relax by the pool and take in some of the scenery and culture of the surrounding area.
Day 3 Wed Arusha/Tarangire
This morning head south by four-wheel drive towards Tarangire National park. Enjoy a game drive through this spectacular park, which is renowned for its elephant troops. Lunch at Tarangire Sopa Lodge before an afternoon game drive and arrival at your impressive lodge, Tarangire Treetops, sitting astride the path of the elephant migration in its own private reserve bordering the National Park. Rolling baobab-studded hills with views of Lake Manyara and the great Rift Valley set the scene for a cluster of treehouses built into Baobab and Marula trees. Each private tree house has its own large balcony, double shower and large bed with views over the treetops. During your two nights’ stay, not only will you have the experience of the luxurious accommodation, but the exciting activities of day and night game drives and guided walking safaris if you wish (approx. 160 miles).
Day 5 Fri Tarangire/Eyasi
Today you journey west to the fascinating and remote land of Lake Eyasi, where the salt lake and scenery is stunning but, most unique are the culture and lifestyles of the Hadzape tribe. This tribe of huntergatherers is one of the last remaining groups of genuinely self-sufficient nomadic people in Africa today. The tribe use the ancient ‘click’ tongue language to communicate with each other. You will stay either at the simple but charming camps of Kisima Ngeda or Tingdiga and during your stay will have the opportunity to witness some of the fascinating customs, hunting, cooking and medicinal ways of this age old tribe (approx. 100 miles).
Day 6 Sat Eyasi/Ngorongoro
This morning travel north to the famous Ngorongoro Crater, the ‘Garden of Eden’ and fertile home to over 25,000 larger animals. The crater is alleged to have the most dense population of predators in Africa, and is also a notorious home of the endangered black rhino. After lunch and an afternoon on the crater floor return to Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge for dinner and overnight. The lodge boasts stunning views over the crater (approx. 75 miles).
Day 7 Sun Ngorongoro/Serengeti
This morning begin your way to the vast plains of the Serengeti, viewing the famous Olduvai Gorge on the way. This archeological site on the eastern plains is a steep sided ravine almost 30 miles long and over half a mile deep. Enjoy lunch en route before a game drive in Serengeti National Park, home to over 35 species of animals. This spectacular park features open plains strewn with acacia woodlands, and volumes of wildlife. On arrival at Migration Camp, which is hidden amongst the rocky outcrops, you will relax into the private, luxurious and superbly located tented camp. The richly furnished camp overlooks the Grumeti River and its resident hippo. The splendour of this location is heightened during the summer months when the migration cross the Grumeti River at different times and places.
