Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort

Welcome to your next adventure

Enjoy understated African influences and a fantastic all-inclusive package.

This relaxed and welcoming resort offers one of the best all-inclusive packages on the island, alongside plentiful activities and facilities. It’s the ideal choice for families, groups and couples. An exceptional standard of cuisine and service can be experienced at the resort’s five restaurants and bars as well as the other venues around the Domaine. The top table here is, without a doubt, at the gourmet seafood restaurant Infinity Blue.

Why we love Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort

  • It’s in a memorable setting beside the Indian Ocean on a former sugar estate, the 2,500-acre Domaine de Bel Ombre, part of which is now a nature reserve

  • The variety of things to do, from unwinding at the fabulous spa to lively beach games, offers something for all ages

  • With five great restaurants, a snack option and bars to choose from, and access to others in the Domaine, mealtimes are very much part of the fun

  • The All Inclusive package is superb, but for the ultimate treat we suggest upgrading to Premium All Inclusive

With five restaurants, a snack option and bars at Heritage Awali, plus three more at C Beach Club and more options at Heritage Le Telfair, Heritage Golf Club and the gourmet restaurant at the estate’s ‘big house’, your hardest decision will be choosing between them all.

Savana
At the resort’s main restaurant, you can linger over a buffet breakfast overlooking shimmering ponds, before returning for lunch or dinner buffets featuring dishes from around the world.

Zafarani
With its colourful decor and festive lighting, this chic evening-only restaurant has an appealing menu of regional Indian dishes.

Kuzini (closing in 2024)
This à la carte Italian restaurant is an inviting venue for dinner, with fine sea views from the tables on the terrace.

Infinity Blue
Grab a table on the over-water deck for a laidback lunch or dinner of Creole dishes, super-fresh seafood and desserts with a local flavour, or just a reviving drink.

Zenzi Bar
Overlooking the pool and the sea, this breezy bar dishes up snacks and light lunches by day before morphing into a piano-and-cocktail bar as darkness falls.

Boma
Designed to look like a traditional African livestock enclosure, this open-air pop-up restaurant arranged around a campfire serves up African-style barbecue dishes, music and dance.

When it comes to unique experiences, an evening at Boma offers dinner under the stars to the sound of African djembe drums.

The expansive spa is designed to look like an African village, with thatched huts surrounded by densely planted gardens dotted with water features, and it’s a delightful retreat. Run by local spa brand Seven Colours, it has a strong focus on wellness with a Mauritian flavour. There are 20 treatment rooms – including seven in the garden – where guests can unwind with a signature ritual or blissful massage, or there are the watery pleasures of Vichy showers, steam baths, hammams, a sauna with an icy plunge pool and more to enjoy.

You can book private yoga (hatha and ashtanga) and anti-stress sessions at the spa, which also has a pavilion for group yoga, tai-chi, qi gong and meditation classes. Beach yoga is also an option.

There is a fully equipped fitness centre with one section for cardio machines and a separate weights area, open from 7am to 8pm.

There are a range of free activities such as beach volleyball, mountain biking, table tennis, beach soccer and tennis, as well as aerobics and aquagym classes. The Domaine is also home to an 18-hole championship golf course and a 9-hole pitch-and-putt – with lessons with a professional instructor available for a supplement.

The 5 Star PADI diving centre operated by Mauritius Dive Adventures offers courses for beginners along with excursions to some of the island’s best-known dive sites.

The Cabana nautical centre provides a wide range of activities, including complimentary windsurfing, dinghy sailing, canoeing, pedal boating, snorkelling trips and waterskiing (1 session a day). For a supplement, you can also go kitesurfing.

To reduce food miles, many of the fruit and vegetables used in the restaurants are grown on the estate. The gardens are planted with indigenous plants that are adapted to the climate, and only organic and natural products are used to look after them. Thanks to an on-site bottling plant, drinking water comes in reusable glass bottles rather than single-use plastic. Looking after the health of the lagoon is a priority, with a variety of projects ranging from working with Reef Conservation to install artificial reefs to creating a guide for guests to the marine life in it.

Family experiences in the neighbouring nature reserve include picnics under the tree canopy and wildlife trails with a local expert*. Alternatively, head for the UNESCO-protected Biosphere Bel Ombre and explore in a guide-driven 4x4*.

For large families, the Heritage Villa is a real African sanctuary, with a living room, private pool and tucked-away location.

Children between the ages of 2 and 11 are made very welcome at the Timomo & Friends children’s club. The club is open each day from 8:30am to 11:30pm and youngsters can join in the various activities which include fishing for crabs, dressing up, arts and crafts and playing in the swimming pool. There is also a free baby Timomo club for children from birth to 3 years old, a unique offering on the island.

Teenagers can partake in a number of fun activities and excursions including horseriding, pitch and putt golf and mountain bike rides.

Access to Heritage La Réserve Golf Links, a private 18-hole championship golf course (par 72) (which is exclusive to Heritage Resorts guests), opening December 2023 (with paying green fees), and the 9-hole La Château Golf Course (with paying green fees unless included in your holiday)

Minimum stay: 5 nights 28 Dec-01 Jan.

Compulsory Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve gala dinners, supplements apply.
