I’ll never forget walking out on the sand bar at the end of the island – bright blue skies, and clear turquoise sea either side of a strip of white sand that stretched as far as the eye could see. The complimentary Champagne sunset cruise was wonderful - we even spotted some dolphins.

In the North Ari Atoll, 1½ hours by boat or 20 minutes by seaplane (with access to a private seaplane lounge) from Malé airport at a supplement from £55 per person one-way.

Savour buffets in the three main restaurants plus seven à la carte restaurants, including the new Duniye restaurant which offers decadent flavours from around the world, and six bars with regular evening entertainment. There are two swimming pools including a beachfront infinity pool, a floodlit tennis court, gym, table tennis, sauna, Jacuzzi, relaxing spa, a good range of watersports including excellent scuba diving (extra charge), kids' club, shops, library and numerous excursions. Snorkelling on the house reef is superb and possible directly from the beach, and a visit to the idyllic sandbank at the tip of the island is a must. Accommodation information

290 beach and water villas with air-conditioning, fan, kingsize bed, minibar, telephone, flat-screen television, DVD player, iPod dock and a terrace or deck.
Garden Villas (45m²) are simply designed.
Beach Villas (70m²) have four-poster beds and are nestled in abundant vegetation but just a short walk from the beach.
Deluxe Beach Villas (51m²) have a bath and are a short stroll from the sandbank.
Beach Jacuzzi Villas (90m²) enjoy a garden bathroom and deck.
Superior Beach Jacuzzi Villas (90m²) are round in shape and contemporary.
Deluxe Beach Jacuzzi Villas (95m²) face the lagoon with four poster beds, bath, outdoor rainfall shower and Jacuzzi.
Water Villas (52m²) are on stilts with a deck and steps down to the sea.
Water Jacuzzi Villas (90m²) also have a large two-tiered sundeck and outdoor Jacuzzi.
Honeymoon Pool Villas (310m²) have a ten metre lap pool.

Children's club

Bageecha, open from 8.30am-10pm every day, offers a wide range of outdoor activities organised for kids of 3-12 years.
Daytime activities include:

Evening activities include:

Island Renewal of Vows
Includes homemade chocolates and sparkling wines in room on arrival, tropical bouquet for the bride and buttonhole for the groom, decorated venue with podium, palm arches with tropical decorations, renewal of vow party including master of ceremony, bridesmaid, local drummers, celebration cake and sparkling wine, finger food and house wine for the invitees, 24 photos and wedding album, framed photo, certificate and traditional gift from the hotel, a five-course candlelit dinner on the beach, served with sparkling wine, local sarong and t-shirt for bride and groom and a sparkling wine in-villa breakfast in bed, the morning after the ceremony. The ceremony will take place with the Indian Ocean as a stunning backdrop.
