SRI LANKA INCIDENT 16 JAN 2008
On 16 January, an attack has been carried out on a bus in the town of Buttala , 150 Miles south-east of Colombo. It is reported that at least 23 people have been killed with dozens more injured. Several soldiers were injured in a second blast not far from the first explosion. Tamil Tiger rebels have been blamed for the attacks.
Buttala is not in an area visited by Kuoni and as such all of our customers currently on holiday in Sri Lanka are safe and well.

On 08 January 2008 a bomb exploded between the airport and Colombo City Centre.
Reports confirm that Sri Lankan Minister 'D M Dassanyake' has died today in hospital after his convoy was hit by the road side blast near to the Capital of Colombo. Sadly seven other locals were also wounded.
The blast in Ja-Ela town, 12 miles north of Colombo has been blamed on the Tamal Tiger rebels.
