Cast away on pint-sized Gili Meno, Mahamaya is a boutique bolthole of stylish pools and laid-back lounging.

Small and wonderfully simple, MAHAMAYA feels like an upscale surf shack with its beach swings, hammocks and bean bag loungers by the pool. You could gaze at corals sands and cerulean waters – from the tiki bar or Asian-fusion restaurant – all day or kayak out to the middle of nowhere.

There are just 18 fairly simple but modern rooms, most with a private outdoor shower. Poolview Suites are set around the two swimming pools, with views across the pool and deck, while the two lovely Beachfront Villas sit directly on the coral sand beach, facing the sea. For extra space, opt for the Family Suite or Two-Bedroom Suite.

MAHAMAYA was built to minimise its impact on the island. It was designed to harness natural air flow so that the use of air-conditioning is reduced. To minimise the use of electricity there are no televisions in the rooms and fresh water comes from reverse osmosis technology. The property supports the local community and has a training programme with two local high schools.
