Meknes
In one of the most fascinating regions, Central Morocco is home to the Imperial City of Meknčs. This beautiful city was made the capital of Morocco by Sultan Moulay Ismail who during his reign built palaces, mosques, gardens and the massive ramparts that encompass the medina.
As Meknčs is in the heart of the countryside, it is a contrast to the larger city of Fes. Smaller and quieter it offers a different experience to the well trodden tourist tracks of other resorts. It is however one of Morocco’s most striking imperial cities and an impressive city we recommend visiting.
