In 1892 Aspen was a booming silver mining town. The first lift was installed just after the Second World War. The Aspen area boasts lots of slopes for different abilities which are split over four separate mountains. Aspen Mountain sits directly above the old town ideal for intermediate skiers. Aspen Highlands ridge has easy intermediate slopes and steep blacks. Buttermilk is the least challenging and offers a piece of respite. Après ski is renowned for its glitz and celebrity haunts.
