The Neapolitan Riviera offers dramatic coastal scenery, ancient sites and spectacular resorts. Perched atop the rocky cliffs on a beautiful headland is Sorrento boasting wonderful views over gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. A maze of cobbled alleyways brimful with shops, restaurants and bars. Further down the Amalfi coast is the heart stopping small town of Positano with its colourful faded buildings cascading down the steep hillside like a waterfall to the seafront and bustling centre. Praiano is Positano’s pretty little sister with a similar beach and buildings but not quite as perpendicular.
Moving further south in a panoramic position, Amalfi is characterized by small fisherman dwellings and white washed villas situated on the cliff face. Here, enjoy a multitude of attractions, the enchanting small marina and colourful centre full of lively restaurants and shops. Best known for its dominant coastal views, Ravello is about 15 minutes drive inland from Amalfi. This small aristocratic town is in an elevated position with some of the best views of the coast is still relatively uncommercialised with a lovely main square, handful of shops and two historic villas. Next along the way to Salerno is Maiori, a typical coastal hill town, lined with beach bars and restaurants along the promenade, of a long sandy volcanic beach.
