Islands

Mountainous, luxuriantly landscaped islands suspended in the deep blue waters of the Mediterranean, with some of the most impressive coastlines.

Unquestionably, the islands in the Bay of Naples, Capri and Ischia are the holiday princesses of the Italian islands.

Between mainland Italy and Tunisia, Sicily is Italy’s largest island. Both Mediterranean and Greek civilisations have contributed to enrich the history of this land.

Forming a volcanic archipelago off Sicily’s northern coast are the seductive Aeolian Islands. Black pebble beaches, clear cobalt waters teeming with fish, sea breezes and mountains swathed in flowers, steaming craters and natural therapeutic hot mudbaths. Each of the seven islands has its own incomparable beauty and contrasting character, the largest of which is Lipari.

A Mediterranean island characterised by a dramatic rolling landscape and a tapestry of grassland, prickly pear, dwarf oaks and white sandy beaches. The rugged terrain and unhurried pace offer a perfect base for a relaxing beach holiday. D.H. Lawrence once wrote that Sardinia was ‘left outside of time and history’ and indeed ancient traditions have survived here, evident in Sardinia’s many festivals, colourful language and architecture.
