Ischia
In contrast with its famous sister island of Capri, mountainous, volcanic Ischia is blessed with beautiful beaches, hot natural springs, a fashionable marina and village, the enchanting castle and centuries old houses offer magical views.
Ischia is the largest island in the bay of Naples, a mere four miles from mainland. At its nearest point, Ischia rises out of the sea in a series of pointy green hillocks. Largely volcanic, visitors have long been attracted to Ischia for its abundance of thermal springs since Roman times and now many of the hotels offer traditional thermal treatments. Ischia is also very scenic on the southern side, Sant’Angelo, a tiny fishing village, enjoys long golden beaches, as well as the nearby stretch of the Spiaggia dei Maronti, the loveliest island beach. The port of Ischia is very characteristic and throughout the island you can discover wooded hills contrasting with terraced vineyards.
