Parma

This delightful Italian city is widely recognised as one of the best places to live in Italy as it has living standards which are among the country’s highest. Parma is situated in the central area of northern Italy, north west of Bologna. Parma is a beautiful city and offers many attractions and sights for the tourist.   • Duomo on Piazza Duomo, among the greatest in the northern Italy, is renowned for its paintings that fill its main cupola. The exquisite Baptistery just south of the cathedral, the relief’s outside and inside are among the most important of their age in Italy.

  • Teatro Farnese a copy of Palladio’s ravishing theatre in Vicenza built entirely in wood.
  • Restaurants in Parma are varied although the majority of people also use restaurants as a local bar and therefore many will serve a lot of snack food.
  • Between the Po river and the Apennine mountains south of Parma and Piacenza lie a series of wonderfully preserved castles that demand the traveler's attention.
  • This is also the main production area for Parma hams (almost all are produced here) as well as Parmigiano cheese and Colli di Parma wines.
