Val Thorens is a purpose built resort set in a sunny, west facing bowl surrounded by dramatic peaks and some of the best skiing and boarding terrain to be found anywhere in Europe. Lifts radiate out in all directions and the fabulous snow record ensures a long season with bountiful powder.
Val Thorens offers the ultimate in doorstep skiing with runs criss-crossing through the town and is Europe’s highest ski resort. Although purpose built, the resort is an attractive blend of hotels, chalets and apartments with superb snow-sure skiing and boarding for all abilities. From wide open cruising to challenging off-piste there is plenty to enjoy as well as the huge Three Valleys to explore.
Val Thorens holiday highlights
- Beginners - There are convenient nursery slopes at the foot of the resort and gentle long blue runs above the village. Beginners can also take advantage of the reduced price beginner’s lift pass.
- Intermediates - Val Thorens is an intermediate skier’s playground with some of the best blue and reds in the Three Valleys. There are long wide open slopes from the Funitel and at the Peclet glacier and easy runsl ead to Les Menuires.
- Advanced skiers will find plenty to keep them happy with powder runs on the glaciers and some steep black challenging runs from the Cīme de Caron along with excellent off-piste opportunities.
- Apres Ski - There is a good selection of lively bars, a cinema and two shopping centres.
- Val Thorens has a large indoor swimming pool and leisure complex. Outdoor activities include paragliding, micro-light flights, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice driving and tobogganing on the superb 6km long run!
