Lake Annecy
Lake Annecy is an enchanting sight; the beautiful deep blue water is framed by magnificent snow capped mountains that rise steeply from the shore. Picturesque historic villages and castles surround the lake, which is a popular summer playground.
Nearby Talloires is an historic village centred around the 11th Century Benedictine monastery with an exceptional location nestled against a steep mountain backdrop on the eastern shore of Lake Annecy. The picturesque peaceful village is home to some exceptional hotels with renowned restaurants that are located close to the lakeside promenade and bathing areas. The town of Annecy can be reached by bus or boat is a large lakeside town with an attractive promenade, a wide variety of shops and delightful historic quarter with an old jail, cobbled streets and castle and excellent range of watersports.

- Talloires has an exceptionally wide range of gourmet restaurants. The Grand Table du Mond Relais Gourmand restaurant at the Auberge du Père Bise is one of the most celebrated in the region and gastronomic delights can also be enjoyed at the Jardins des Délices at the Abbaye de Talloires.
- Historical sights include Talloires abbey, Church of St Germain, Menthon castle and the castle and old jail in Annecy. July 14th is celebrated with fireworks and dancing. The Fête du Lac is held on the first Saturday of August and organ recitals in Annecy Cathedral are held every Wednesday evening in July and August.
- There are interesting walks around the lake and into the surrounding mountains. Angon waterfall is well worth the effort. The "Roc de Chère" nature reserve offers remarkable views and interesting flora and fauna. Walking guides can be booked locally.
- There are many places to visit with your hire car. Chamonix and Mt. Blanc are only an hours drive away. The impressive Gorges du Fier gorge can be explored on the suspended walkways. The towns of Lake Geneva including Evian and historic Yvoire are also easily reached.
