Chamonix winter holiday highlights

  • Beginners - Gentle nursery slopes at Les Planards and the Savoy are a good place to start before trying the easy runs of Le Tour.
  • Intermediates - The Col de Balme above Le Tour has some good cruising runs whilst more advanced intermediate runs are found at Le Brevent and La Flegere.
  • Advanced - Chamonix is a mecca for advanced skiers with steep terrain and challenging slopes. The Grand Montets has some exhilarating blacks and some of the wildest off-piste terrain in France.
  • Chamonix also offers plenty to do off the piste including ice skating, dog sledding, ice climbing and shopping as well as excursions on the Aiguille du Midi cable car and Montenvers railway.

  • Chamonix offers a vast choice of gastronomic delights from high class restaurants to rustic mountain refuges. Nightlife is lively with a wide choice of bars.
  • Chamonix has a rich architectural heritage, with a priory, alpine farms, baroque churches, and art deco buildings. The Alpine Museum and Exhibition Centre traces the town’s development. Cultural and sporting events take place throughout the year including the Mt. Blanc Marathon, June, International Climbing Festival, July and Fête des Guides, August.
  • There are over 200 miles of well maintained hiking trails for all levels, including gentle valley trails through the forest and high alpine routes accessible by cable car (June to mid September).
