Kitzbühel winter holiday highlights

The large ski area offers a good range of runs for all abilities and includes high open runs as well as pretty tree-lined pistes to explore. For many the name Kitzbühel means one thing - the Hahnenkamm, the most challenging of all the downhill race courses but there is more to this delightful town. The medieval, traffic-free centre of old painted buildings, cobbled streets, lively bars and restaurants and varied shopping is a delight to explore, whilst the extensive ski area is a playground for intermediates that enjoy the attractive, varied slopes and cruising from one village to another. Off the slopes there are plenty of attractions to make this a perfect spot for mixed groups.

Kitzbühel summer highlights

During the summer months walking opportunities are plentiful in the surrounding mountains and Kitzbühel is ideally placed for exploring the region. Kitzbühel is a walker’s paradise with 112 miles of marked footpaths offering everything from easy strolls to taxing climbs such as the imposing Kitzbüheler Horn. Take the Hahnenkamm Gondola for walks through alpine meadows and forests to Kirchberg or Jochberg. The local tourist office organises an excellent programme of daily guided walks, free with the guest card. There are excellent cycle paths in the flat valley to St Johann in Tirol, Kirchberg, Brixen and beyond. Varying mountain bike routes also cater for all abilities. Bike hire is readily available. Kitzbühel is an internationally renown golfing destination with two 18-hole and two 9-hole courses around the town plus 19 other courses within easy reach including the 18- hole Wilden Kaiser course (15 minutes drive) and Zell am See’s international 18-hole course (one hour drive).
