Costarican craftsmen produce quite beautiful leather goods. And don't feel you have to resist one of those typical colourful ox-carts from Sarchi. They are really very well made, can be neatly dismantled for packing and are available in different sizes.
Also very attractive are the various carved wooden utensils and bowls and hand-turned pottery.
Perhaps the most eye-catching and authentic craftwork of Costa Rica is to be found in the faithfully reproduced pre-Columbian jewellery fashioned from gold, jade or glazed obsidian.
