Barbados holidays
Barbados is a perennial favourite for British holidaymakers, and it is easy to see why. Some of the finest hotels in the Caribbean line the prestigious west coast, famed for its soft sands and spectacular sunsets. Elsewhere, there are wonderful restaurants and bars to enjoy in the south, rugged Atlantic beauty in the east, a lively and friendly capital in the southwest and British colonial charm throughout.
Barbados holiday highlights
- Bridgetown - a capital of colonial architecture, historical sights, fascinating museums, duty free shops and excellent restaurants.
- The resorts of the 'platinum' (west) coast...some, like Sandy Lane, have become attractions in their own right.
- Holetown, with its pretty Barbadian houses, where the first British ship landed, in 1625.
- Former plantations, romantically ruined or skilfully reused, such as the Flower Forest at Richmond Plantation.
- Golf - the climate, scenery and some of the region's best courses make Barbados a golfer's paradise. Particularly good are the links at Sandy Lane and Royal Westmoreland.
