Selecting a car
Kuoni's long term partner for car hire in the USA is Alamo, who have been chosen for the high standard of fleet and quality of service that they offer.
If your chosen holiday automatically includes a hire car, your car will be allocated on the basis of your party size. The table below shows which car your party will receive and includes size comparisons with British models. For tailor made fly-drive holidays you can choose from a full range of car hire options within the booking process.
Before you book your fly-drive, consider whether your party luggage will fit comfortably into the car grade allocated.

What's included in your car hire package?
In America, the basic hire charge, with unlimited mileage and limited third party coverage, is included in your car hire prices. We strongly recommend that you pre-purchase one of the following additional hire packages to give you peace of mind.

No one way fees - save £'s
Kuoni has negotiated a special agreement with Alamo, to offer even better value for drivers who want to pick up and drop off their car at different locations, to give the added flexibility to see and do as much as possible. The following one way hires are available free of charge and apply in either direction and to all depots in the state (unless stated otherwise).
- Arizona to California
- Arizona to Nevada
- California to Nevada
Additionally the states of Florida and California offer free one way drop off fees, so for example you can pick your hire car up in San Francisco and drop it off in Los Angeles for no extra cost!
Although one-way hires are not possible on ECAR/EDAR grade cars, all other one way drop off charges between other locations in America are available from our sales team on 01306 747002.
Car upgrades
Should you wish to upgrade to a larger vehicle than we have allocated, or to a convertible or luxury car, it may be more convenient and economical to organise this at the time of booking. Points to consider before deciding:
- Number of adults and children in party
- Amount and size of luggage (separate roof racks are not available)
- Length of journey and passenger comfort
- Infant seats for children under six

Alamo direct road
All Kuoni clients who pre-book either Alamo Comprehensive or Alamo Gold packages will qualify for use of the Direct Road pre-registration service programme. This service allows you to pre-register your hire details before travel and saves you time when you collect your vehicle. Details of how to register will be included in your travel documents or for further information log on to www.alamodirectroad.com.
Alamo roadside assistance
For peace of mind, Roadside Assistance is available at approximately $5.99 per day. This includes replacement of lost keys, broken windscreen, windows, towing of vehicle when inoperable and tyre replacement if damaged.
Roadside assistance is arranged on collection of your vehicle.
GPS (Satellite navigation handsets)
In addition to your car hire we are pleased to offer a prebookable GPS (satellite navigation handset) inclusive package. All grades £6 per day or £35 per week.
GPS can be arranged during the booking process, but is only available if Alamo Fully Inclusive or Alamo Gold are pre-purchased.Other information
