The unwelcome effects of climate change will be a major concern for the tourism sector in the next few years. Global warming threatens the world’s low-lying archipelagos such as the Maldives, historic cities like Venice, rainforests like the Amazon and unspoilt regions such as Antarctica. Global warming may also lead to an increases in disease outbreaks, or in crop failures. It is generally acknowledged now that tourism – by air in particular – makes its contribution to the global emissions of greenhouse gases. So it’s as both an affected and a contributing party that the travel sector needs to take action to counter this serious climate threat.
And Kuoni is doing so, with your assistance, by supporting the “Climate Protection through Waste Management” project on Bali, in collaboration with the myclimate organisation.
