Dubai's efforts to transform itself into a leading holiday and business destination are paying off handsomely as its economy records some of the most impressive non-oil growth in the region.

A report by Standard Chartered said the trade and tourism sector has become one of the key drivers of Dubai's growth, having received a huge boost from infrastructure investment.

Dubai holidays have become increasingly popular over the past few years as the emirate aggressively develops world-class facilities and attractions.

Tailor made holidays in Dubai are also an attractive option and analysts expect tourism growth - indicated by the 8.9% rise in visitor numbers during January-June 2011 and high hotel occupancy rates - to continue for the rest of the year

Dubai's core strengths of trade and tourism will continue to benefit from the emirate's excellent infrastructure, said the report.

The bank is upbeat on the outlook for the emirate's economy this year, with non-oil indicators looking positive.
