Hundreds of Buddhist monks will descend from their mountain monastery to collect offerings from the public in a religious ritual to be held in an ancient Thai town next month.
The colourful annual event which takes place from October 13-14 in Klong Nang Buat could instantly become one of the highlights of Thailand holidays.
A luxury holiday in October can be a great opportunity for travellers to see age-old traditions of the Thai people.
More than 200 monks who live in a temple on the Nang Buat mountain will walk down in a procession to the centre of the town where they will be offered food, money and other items by people.
The ceremony takes place in front of a large statue of the Buddha and the money is used by the monks for the upkeep of the Khao Nang Buat temple.
Visitors to the coastal Chon Buri province can enjoy agricultural festivals and buffalo races which are an integral part of village life in the region.
