The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched a new campaign, dubbed "The miracle years of amazing Thailand", aimed at doubling the number of tourists visiting the country to 30 million per annum.
The two-year 500 million baht (£11 million) campaign, aimed at increasing the popularity of Thailand holidays, is also expected to help boost the tourism revenue to two trillion baht (£42 billion) a year.
Of the total budget, 180 million baht (£4 million) has been earmarked for sponsoring famous international sporting competitions, including the UK Football League, Formula One and the Australian Open golf championship.
TAT plans to spend 60 million baht (£1 million) for domestic marketing.
The campaign, which will also see celebrities from across the world being invited to visit the kingdom, is expected to encourage an increasing number of people to plan tailor made holidays in Thailand.
The national festivals of Thailand, including Loy Krathong, Songkran and the Vegetarian Festival, will be promoted as global events.
