A collection of Dame Elizabeth Taylor's personal possessions, including the late actress' jewellery, clothing and art, will be taken on a three-month international tour and exhibition ahead of its auction in New York in December.

The global tour and exhibition of the star's prized possessions, possibly including her favourite diamonds, will begin in September and will include stops in Dubai, London and Moscow.

The exhibition is expected to increase the popularity of Dubai holidays among people who are eager to have a look at Elizabeth Taylor's favourite collection before it goes under the hammer.

Marc Porter, from Christie's auction house, said: "The global tour and exhibition of her collection at Christie's will be a window into the world of a true icon, a rare woman who was at once an international film and fashion star, loving mother, successful businesswoman, and generous humanitarian.

"This collection of her many cherished possessions will bring us closer to the essence of Elizabeth Taylor's unique spirit, and promises to inspire admiration, delight and, at times, sheer wonder in all who come to see it."

The money raised from the tour will be donated to The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.

The actress, remembered for her role in Cleopatra, died in March this year at the age of 79.
