A recent study has ranked Switzerland first in the world's top adventure tourism destinations for developed countries.
Based on the principles of sustainable adventure tourism, the Adventure Tourism Development Index (ATDI), now in its third year, has ranked 195 countries around the world.
Many factors were taken into account to rate the different destinations, including safety, natural resources, adventure activity facilities, infrastructure and sustainability policies.
Visitors planning to take luxury holidays in Switzerland can enjoy a number of winter sports on offer in the country.
According to the study carried out by the Adventure Travel Trade Association, the George Washington University and Vital Wave Consulting, Iceland and New Zealand claimed second and third places respectively.
Canada and Germany were also ranked among the sector's leading developed nations.
