Food lovers planning to take flights to Saint Lucia may be excited to hear about the new "Summerlicious" dining programme, showcasing culinary delights of the island at reduced rates.

The summer event, which runs from July 1 to September 30, will feature lunch and dinner menus from 21 participating restaurant and hotel partners.

Restaurants participating in the event, which is headed by the Saint Lucia Hotel & Tourism Association, will offer two course lunch and three course dinners at prices ranging from US$20.00 (£12) to US$55.00 (£34).

Couples choosing honeymoon packages to the island country in the eastern Caribbean Sea can make use of the opportunity to savour a signature cocktail created with Saint Lucia's award winning Chairman's Reserve Rum, a dark amber rum with rich notes of fruit and vanilla.

Louis Lewis, director of tourism for the Saint Lucia Tourist Board, said: "Summerlicious is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase Saint Lucia's wide variety of delectable cuisine from our diverse heritage. Saint Lucian dishes are infused with Creole, French, English and African flavours, making Saint Lucia a truly desirable culinary destination."
