The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were among a record-breaking number of
tourists to enjoy Seychelles holidays last year, according to figures.

Prince William and Kate visited the island on their honeymoon in May
last year, but the royal couple were not the only people to enjoy luxury holidays on the island.

The Seychelles National Bureau of Statistics revealed that 194,753 came
to the island in 2011, an increase of 11% on the previous year's
figures. The total number of visitors is more than twice the country's
total population and just under five-times the Seychelles' adult
population.

Tourists from Britain, France, Germany and Italy were among the biggest
markets for the island, despite the global economic crisis and the debt
problems in the eurozone.

The best performing potential market for the year was China, which
experienced a growth of 97% in tourist numbers. Visitor numbers from the
Middle East went up by 44% and passed the 10,000 mark for the first
time.
