Spider-Man fans taking USA holidays may be interested in adding Chimera's Comics in
LaGrange, Chicago, to their itinerary in a bid to take a look at an
original, first printing of the comic book "Amazing Fantasy".
The book, in which Spider-Man first appeared in 1962, was found in a
paper bag full of old comic books, brought to the suburban Chicago store
by George Toman, according to Chicago Sun-Times.
The book, which was bought by Mr Toman for 12 cents and remained in his
attic for years, is now said to be worth nearly $12,000, with the store
exhibiting it to attract potential bidders.
Steve Brown, co-owner of Chimera's Comics, said a copy of the edition of
"Amazing Fantasy" had gone under the hammer for $1 million.
Wear and tear on Mr Toman's copy earned it a lower rating.
Trailing around comic book stores isn't everyone's idea of a break, so a
twin centre holiday may be a wise move.
