Britons planning a Thailand holiday will be pleased to hear that Phuket is planning to restore some of its most famous locations and landmarks.
The Phuket Gazette reported that the city, which is popular with both travellers on luxury holidays and backpackers, announced several restoration projects to ensure its main tourist attractions are looking their very best.
The locations earmarked for restoration include the police station in Phuket Town as well as the Standard Chartered Bank building, and the main focus of the work will be improving the look of the buildings' structures, according to the Phuket Gazette.
Local culture champion Pranee Sakulpipatana told the newspaper it is high time that restoration work on the buildings begins.
She added: "Both are featured on post cards and promotional materials for Phuket and both are falling apart. We are now working to have them restored and used as public museums to attract more visitors to town."
