Phuket International Airport is all set to break tourist air travel records, apparently due to a surge in the number of foreign tourists seeking Thailand holidays.
A total of 5.6 million passengers used the airport during the first eight months of current year, official figures have shown.
The airport might cross the historic eight million mark by the end of the year as large numbers of global tourists are likely to visit Thailand in the coming months.
The country is known for a number of destinations that suit tailor made holidays.
In August alone, a total of 714,845 trippers passed through the airport. International arrivals and departures rose 34.13% year on year, whereas international flights went up 25.48%.
