Peru is fast turning into a food-lover's paradise as the variety and richness of its cuisine comes into greater prominence.
People taking all-inclusive or luxury holidays in the South American nation this week have the opportunity to visit the Mistura Food Festival in Lima.
It is one of the biggest such events on the continent and reflects the stunning growth the Peruvian food industry has enjoyed in recent years.
Thousands of tourists flock to the annual festival every year to savour a wide variety of dishes and delicacies. Among the much sought-after preparations this year is the famous Peruvian dessert ranfanote made of cheese, coconut, honey, toast and nuts.
Ferran Adria, a Spanish chef, who is planning to chart the culinary history of Peru in a new documentary praised the quality of food and drink produced in the country.
He described the food industry's growth as a "gastronomic boom". "I'm sure it is unique in the world, at present there is no other country experiencing something like this," he said.
