Holidaymakers planning to take luxury holidays to the USA next month could have an opportunity to watch Alan Cumming
playing every role in a New York production of Macbeth.
The production of the Shakespeare tragedy will first premiere in June at
the Tramway in Glasgow.
Directed by John Tiffany and Andy Goldberg, the play will hit the US for
New York City's Lincoln Center Festival from July 5 to July 14.
In a statement, the Good Wife star said: "I have been obsessed with
Macbeth for as long as I can remember."
He added: "It was the first Shakespeare I ever read, the first I was
ever in and it continues to haunt and inspire me.
"The only thing I can think of more exciting, challenging and terrifying
than this play is to do a one-man version of it with these great
directors and this great Company and to perform it in my two favourite
cities in the world, Glasgow and New York."
Cumming has worked with Tiffany before in The Bacchae, which was staged
in 2008 at the Lincoln Center Festival.
The full lineup for the 2012 Lincoln Center Festival has not been
announced yet.
