Morocco could soon become a famous destination for holidaymakers looking to get rid of their wrinkles.

The North African country, which offers adventure and luxury holidays, has begun to cultivate Barbary figs with the hope of boosting the national revenue stream.

Oil extracted from the Barbary figs, a species of cactus, is rich in Vitamin E and anti-oxidants and has anti-ageing properties.

Morocco is already famous for its beauty treatments, due to the availability of argan oil, valued for its cosmetic properties.

With these two oils, Morocco could become a favoured destination for people who are looking to rejuvenate their skin and have a relaxing holiday.

Barbary fig oil with cosmetic virtue costs almost £1,000 per litre.

The EU has been urging the country to develop its farming industry and boost exports of the oil.

Faical Alaoui, trade marketing manager for UK and Ireland at the Moroccan National Tourist Office, has said that travellers who visit the nation quickly become part of its rich tapestry of culture.
