The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has assumed management of Al Bustan Palace in Muscat, Oman.

The announcement was made following a deal with the Ministry of Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman. It is likely to encourage luxury holidays in the Arab state.

Under the new agreement, the property, which boasts a spectacular backdrop of rugged mountains, will be transformed into a luxury hotel.

The palace, which is well-known for its 38m high domed atrium lobby, has recently received a facelift.

The interior of the hotel flaunts an enchanting blend of Arabian culture, art and history, with furnishings that feature elements of local traditions as well as art deco influences.

It has 250 rooms, together with meeting and banquet halls that can accommodate up to 720 guests. The property also includes 200 acres of landscaped gardens.

Other features include five swimming pools, a spa, a water sports centre and a Tennis Village with four floodlit courts.

Guests at the hotel can enjoy its seven restaurants and bars. These include Al Marjan Bistro, which offers contemporary French cuisine.

China Mood is the fine-dining Cantonese restaurant, while Al Khiran Terrace restaurant features multiple-themed buffets and live cooking stations, while Al Maha Piano Bar offers live entertainment.
