Tourists taking Maldives holidays may be interested to hear that a leading
resort in the island nation has won top recognition at the World Travel
Awards 2011.
The World Travel Awards Africa and Indian Ocean ceremony, which was held
at the SOHO Square, Sharm el Sheikh, in Egypt on September 16, honoured
Kurumba Maldives with the "Maldives Leading Hotel" title.
The top accolade won by Kurumba Maldives at the World Travel Awards,
which is hailed as the tourism industry's Oscars, is likely to encourage
more tourists wanting luxury holidays to head to the island resort in
the Maldives.
The resort, which opened its doors to the public in 1972, also picked up
the top title last year.
In 2008, Kurumba Maldives won the "Indian Ocean's Leading Resort", the
"Maldives' Leading Resort" and the "Maldives Leading Spa Resort" titles.
