A new SonicStar aircraft, which is powered by a fuel-efficient S-MAGJET hybrid gas turbine engine, can travel at twice the speed of Concorde and reduce journey times across the Atlantic drastically.
The aircraft can reach New York from London in just two hours and New York to Sydney in a mere five hours, HyperMach said.
The British aircraft manufacturer said the 20-seat aircraft, which is ideal for tourists on luxury holidays, is aerodynamically designed to be able to fly at Mach 3.1, with a top speed of Mach 3.6, while Concorde had a top speed of Mach 2.04.
With a new hybrid engine that is much more fuel-efficient than that of Concorde, the aircraft is conditioned to fly at 62,000ft with a specific fuel consumption that is unprecedented in aerospace transport, and which could reduce aviation emissions by 100%.
The jet employs electromagnetic currents to regulate the sonic boom in order to meet the noise norms that currently restrict supersonic travel.
