Jamaica is conducting a prestigious cooking competition for its budding chefs next month.

Taste of Jamaica, organised by the Culinary Federation of Jamaica (CFJ), will provide an opportunity for young chefs from the island to showcase their cooking skills.

The event, which will take place on October 15 and 16, is being held to motivate young chefs, says Chef Ravi Anne.

He said: "Every day cooks and chefs do their best in their individual kitchens at their places of work, but the competition will bring their talent, skills and professionalism to a new level."

Food lovers taking luxury Caribbean holidays next month can attend the event held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre and get a chance to sample some of the delicious food prepared by the 100 participants from the sponsored booths at a low cost.

The CFJ, that tries to bring out and showcase the talent of young chefs, has the responsibility of choosing the Jamaican National Chef Team from the participants to compete in the Taste of the Caribbean 2012, an international event hosted by Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association.
