A Florida museum has been voted one of the top architectural designs in the US.

The Tampa Museum of Art-Cornelia Corbett Centre in downtown Tampa is one of the 45 structures being honoured in the annual American Architecture Awards.

The Stanley Saitowitz design is the only building in Florida to be mentioned in the list. It is now likely to become a major hangout for travellers planning USA holidays.

Set in a sculpture garden and an eight-acre park on the Hillsborough River, the $32.8 million museum, which was established in 2010, has a total area of 66,000 square feet, including 26,000 square feet of galleries. It is an ideal destination for tourists on tailor made holidays.

The awards are the highest and most esteemed recognition for the best new building design produced by leading architects, urban planners, and landscape architects in the US, according to museum officials.
