Golf-loving travellers planning tailor made holidays in the Maldives may be happy to hear that a $500 million (£324 million) floating 18-hole golf course will be built by a Dutch firm in the island nation.
The proposed golf course, which will be set upon several floating islands interconnected by underwater tunnels, will be a "scarless development, which has zero footprint on the Maldives region", according to Dutch Docklands.
The design also features a series of sumptuous villas overlooking the golf course and coral reefs.
There will be an underwater clubhouse and two luxury hotels.
The course, work on which is scheduled to be completed by 2015, will be powered by solar energy.
The proposed golf course, which will be just five minutes away from the airport, could increase the popularity of Maldives holidays.
