Egypt is up for six awards in the World Travel Awards (WTA), with Sharm El Sheik gaining two nominations.
Britons looking to take all inclusive Egypt holidays may be interested to know that the city has been put forward for the world's leading cruise port and the world's leading destination awards.
The prestigious WTA ceremony, hailed as "the Oscars of the tourism industry", will be held at Egypt Hall in Soho Square, Sharm El Sheik.
Following the recent political upheaval in the African country that affected its tourism, the organisers' decision of holding the WTA's Africa and India ceremony in Sharm El Sheik will help Egypt to reinforce its image as a popular holiday destination.
Completing 18 years, the award ceremony is expected to be attended by a large number of people.
Among the other nominations are the luxurious beach resort of Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh on the Red Sea coast and the Four Seasons Hotel in capital Cairo.
One of the organisers of the awards, Graham Cooke, said that the event will provide a great opportunity to showcase the country's top attractions such as the Pyramids of Giza, the temples of Luxor and many more to the travel and tourism world.
